I prefer to write on other ttopics than about myself, but I think it's important that you get some idea of who I am, why I do what I do and my credentials for doing it, so you can assess my credibility in what I write, and how I go about my work.

Words. I'm a writer, researcher and thinker on ideas about personality, particularly on C.G.Jung's psychological types and associated ideas. These seem to me to be the most robust core ideas from which to look at personality in general: Biological, cultural, historical, neurological and psychological perspectives are all of interest.

My academic qualifications [BA(Hons); Dip.Ed., Grad. Dip (Org Beh); MSc] are an important part of the context for my work. My Masters level thesis was "Quantifying Jung: The Origin and Development of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator." You can find it elsewhere on this site. Others consider me a leading thinker or expert in psychological type and personality. I like to investigate new ideas and find out things and in that way I've broken new ground from time to time.

Practice. I impart what I've learned as a coach, consultant, facilitator and trainer, which I've been doing for over 20 years. My approach is comprehensive, informal, insightful, practical and low-technology, seeking a balance between what needs presenting and what an individual or group requires. Often what is really required isn't apparent until a session or course is under way. My work ranges from an introductory lkevel to the most advanced, for indiciduals and groups who want to know something about themselves, how to work together, apply it to various contexts  (e.g. careers, teams, counselling/coaching) and so on. This work usually, but not necessarily involves a type questionnaire viz.,

MBTI. I formally accredited people in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) for 13 years until its publisher changed its policy regarding the number of such courses worldwide. I also provided MBTI Step II courses. I've developed my own interpretation method for both these forms based on item content, which I teach to anyone interested.

Majors. I conducted accreditation courses on Mark Majors' type instruments on behalf of both Mark and the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) for 4 years

Presentations I've presented on my work and ideas at professional conferences and meetings for 20 years, mostly in Australia and the USA. I like to have a new idea for each event. Papers from these presentationas are on the website.  I've been a visiting scholar at universities in Dubai, Korea and Switzerland, the latter as a means of developing my own Jungian questionnaire, which worked well. An interview on the MBTI and psychological type aired on Arirang TVs Heart to Heart program whillst in Korea can be viewed on this website and YouTube.

Teaching. I've been a casual academic teaching organisational subjects to undergraduates at two universities. I also taught the Personality Theory component of a Graduate Diploma in Jungian Studies at the University of South Australia

Professional Organisations. I joined the Australian Association for Psychological Type (AusAPT) on its inception and was made a life member in 1998.  I've written for AusAPTs publications since 1993 on theory, practice and columns on social aspects of personality differences.
I joined the Association for Psychological Type (International) (APTi) in 1991 and was the Interest Area Consultant (Theory and Research) between 2006-2010, writing on theory and research issues for its Bulletin of Psychological Type and providing research advice to its members. I'm currently a prrof-reader/reviewer and occasional contributor to the Bulletin

The photos surrounding this piece are getting old, but to me they still have relevance and so remain.

I hope that gives you some relevant background to what's here on my site and how it gets there.
